Action packed final two weeks

Image
In the last two weeks of school, Neptune class have been hard at work. From learning about how rules make a game more fun, to introducing part part whole models and the addition symbol for the first time, the class haven’t slowed down at all. In science, we measured the daily temperature and rainfall for a whole week as we’ve been learning all about weather and the different seasons. In choosing time, the children have been reinforcing this knowledge even further by writing about and describing all sorts of different weather conditions and events. In writing, we published a phenomenal character description of George the giant. It’s been an action packed two weeks and Neptune class have more than earned a break.  Neptune class learning the rules to noughts and crosses, and thinking about how sticking to the rules makes the game even more fun. Here Neptune are sorting different pictures into parts and wholes, in preparation for introducing part part whole models.

Ordinal numbers with Neptune class

In week 5 Neptune class learned all about ordinal numbers by racing each other in a hopping race across the class and handing out the correct rosettes to their classmates. Although we had hoped to do our race outside, we had to do it indoors due to the rain, which was still lots of fun.  Maths has been a blast this half term as we learned about parts and wholes, the addition symbol, groups and sorting, and many more important skills. As the next term rolls around we will be learning all about addition, subtraction, number bonds, shapes and more.
